about

Here’s another song about religion and sexuality. This time it’s directed at the openly gay Christians out there. It seems that most religious groups have a particular distaste for homosexuality. Some don’t, and they claim that God actually loves all people (which seems like it would make the most sense). These are two different opinions within the same religion, though, and if they can’t decide whether God hates gays or loves gays, how can they claim to know anything at all? Loving and hating are very different (opposites, some would say). The fact that there’s such a broad range there should be enough for anyone to lose faith in religion. Maybe this is just the atheist in me talking. All the music in this song (except the drums and vocals obviously) was all recorded with the same synth tone in a bunch of different octaves.

lyrics

Those who matter don’t care
Those who care don’t matter
If you think this is fair
Isn’t God the latter?

Why would you subscribe
To that which condemns you?
Even if in your eyes
You’ll still be rescued

Simple fact that they don’t
Put an end to debating
That should be enough doubt
To stop participating

They still can’t decide
If it’s hateful or loving
With such a divide
They must know nothing

Love and hate are fundamental
But where’s the mental?
